Growth Zone

I don’t remember where I found this photo, so I am sorry I cannot give credit for it. This blog is a giant leap out of my comfort zone, but I also believe an idea God planted in me, and I didn’t want to waste time in the Fear Zone. Years of experience with God has taught me to trust Him, even if I don’t understand. I will also say, the Learning Zone was intimidating – as I prepared to start a blog, I found a lot more information than I was prepared for, and almost shut down the idea because it seemed so complicated from the vision with which I started. Who knows, maybe it will grow more “complicated”? But for now, I am kicking off with simple. And I love that the arrow points beyond growth – because I hope in my life and in yours, growth never stops. There will be stops and starts in this Blog journey, and I am sure things will change, but that is why I landed on A Work In Progress!
Progress by Merriam Webster: a royal journey marked by pomp and circumstance
Progress by Cambridge Dictionary: to develop or change to an improved situation or condition.
Antonym: regression, decline, set back, stagnation, retreat (depending on the context).
There are many aspects to progress in our lives – physical growth (even if I am closing in on the age of height “retreat”, depending on the context), financial growth (really hoping for no retreat in that area as retirement draws nearer all the time) health growth (that sounds weird) parenting growth, work growth, educational growth and for sure, spiritual growth.
I can take any of these topics – and I will in the days/weeks/months ahead, and talk about being a work in progress. Since we moved from Wyoming to Nebraska 2 years ago, God has shown me areas where I need to grow, and allowing others the same grace to allow for growth. If God allows ME the grace to be a work in progress, should I not allow that in others around me as well? I know I can’t solve all the issues of good and evil, and why God allows so much evil and ugliness, but I can work in my sphere of influence to offer grace, and make my sphere a better place. And to point whoever is looking for grace and a place to grow, to the One who can grow us best.
